Governing law: Scotland

Please read carefully

These terms apply to all services provided by Fairfield Hearing. By booking an appointment or purchasing services from us, you agree to these terms. Your statutory rights under UK consumer law are not affected.

1. Who We Are

Fairfield Hearing is a private independent audiology practice regulated by the HCPC. Stephen Fairfield (HCPC HAD00366) is the principal audiologist. All audiologists providing clinical services are individually HCPC-registered. References to “we”, “us”, and “our” are to Fairfield Hearing. References to “you” and “your” are to the person booking, attending, or purchasing services.

2. Our Services

Clinical hearing services

Our clinical services include comprehensive hearing assessments, audiological testing, tinnitus assessments, balance assessments, ear wax removal by microsuction or irrigation, hearing aid fitting and supply, and ongoing audiological aftercare. All services are provided by HCPC-registered audiologists.

Clinical independence

Fairfield Hearing has no commercial ties to any hearing aid manufacturer. All clinical recommendations are based solely on clinical need and patient preference.

Limitations

We are not a substitute for emergency medical services. We do not diagnose or treat medical conditions outside our audiological scope. Where findings indicate a need for further medical assessment, we will refer you appropriately.

3. Appointments

Booking

Appointments can be booked by telephone, email, our website contact form, or our online booking system, depending on the service. No GP referral is required for any private appointment.

Cancellations

We ask that you give us as much notice as possible if you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment, so that the time can be offered to another patient.

If we need to reschedule

If we need to cancel or reschedule, we will contact you as soon as possible and offer an alternative appointment at no additional cost.

4. Hearing Aid Supply and Purchase

Clinical assessment prerequisite

We will only supply hearing aids following a comprehensive audiological assessment confirming a clinical indication for amplification.

Pricing and payment

Prices will be confirmed in writing before any purchase. Hearing aids attract zero-rated VAT when prescribed by a registered healthcare professional for a specific medical condition. Payment is due at the time of fitting unless a payment plan has been agreed.

What is included

The price for hearing aids from Fairfield Hearing includes: the device(s), the fitting appointment, real ear measurement verification, our comprehensive 4-year aftercare support package, and the manufacturer’s warranty.

The 60-day money-back guarantee

All hearing aids are subject to our 60-day money-back guarantee. If within 60 days of your fitting appointment you decide for any reason not to proceed, we will provide a full refund of the purchase price. The 60-day period runs from the date of your fitting appointment.

To exercise this guarantee: notify us in writing before the 60-day period expires and return the devices in good working order (reasonable trial wear is acceptable). Refunds will be processed within 14 days of receipt of returned devices.

This guarantee is in addition to, and does not affect, your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

The 4-year aftercare support package

Every hearing aid includes our 4-year aftercare support package as standard, comprising: unlimited aftercare appointments with your named audiologist for 4 years; 6-monthly hearing aid servicing and cleaning; annual ear wax removal; battery or cable supply for 4 years; one multi-function accessory; and priority technology update access. Full details at our hearing aid aftercare page.

5. Manufacturer Warranty

All hearing aids include the manufacturer’s warranty (typically 2–4 years, confirmed in writing at point of purchase). The warranty covers manufacturing defects. It does not cover accidental damage, loss, or improper care. We will assist with warranty claims.

6. Your Statutory Consumer Rights

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights under: the Consumer Rights Act 2015; the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013; or the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982 (as applicable in Scotland).

7. Complaints

Please see our Complaints Policy for full details of how to raise a concern.

8. Limitation of Liability

We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be excluded under Scottish or UK law. Subject to these exclusions, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the law of Scotland. Any dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Scottish courts.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version is always available on our website. Material changes affecting existing commitments will be communicated directly to affected patients.
