Our commitment

Fairfield Hearing is committed to making our website and clinical services accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. This is fundamental to who we are as a hearing healthcare practice. Many of our patients live with hearing loss, tinnitus, or balance disorders. Accessibility is at the heart of everything we do.

Specific accessibility features

  • All images include descriptive alt text incorporating relevant clinical context
  • All form fields have associated, descriptive labels
  • All phone numbers are tappable tel: links for mobile users and screen readers
  • A skip-to-main-content link is present at the top of every page
  • The site can be navigated entirely by keyboard without a mouse
  • Text can be resized to 200% without loss of content or functionality
  • Colour is not used as the only means of conveying information

Accessibility at Our Clinics

Communication support

  • Written communication — all or part of any appointment can be conducted through written communication on request
  • Extended appointments — longer appointments are available at no extra charge for patients requiring more time for communication
  • Hearing loop — [confirm whether induction loops are installed at both clinics and add details before publication]
  • BSL interpreter — we can accommodate British Sign Language interpreters if arranged at least 48 hours in advance
  • Large-print materials — audiogram results and care instructions available in large print on request

Physical access

  • Stafford Street (West End): step-free access and parking
  • Wardie Avenue (Trinity): step-free access and parking
  • Home visits: For patients with mobility difficulties, our audiologists offer comprehensive home visit assessments and aftercare across Edinburgh and the Lothians at no additional charge. Contact us to arrange.

Reasonable Adjustments

Under the Equality Act 2010 we have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to remove barriers for disabled people. If you have a specific access need we have not addressed, please contact us — we will always try to find a solution.
